California doesn’t sit still.

We’re a print shop pointed at the present tense. When something starts buzzing, we put it on a shirt while it’s still buzzing.

The Story

Something is always going off here. The poppies detonate across the Antelope Valley for two weeks and then they’re gone. A stadium in Inglewood fills up with ninety thousand people on a Tuesday. A roaster in Oakland pulls a shot that ruins every other coffee for you. Ten wins in a row. A whale breaches off Monterey. Farmers market peaches hit in July and for about three weeks they are the best thing on Earth.

Most California merch is frozen. Palm tree, sunset, 1970s font, done — the same shirt sold in the same airport gift shop since forever. It’s a postcard of a state that stopped moving. California Buzz is the opposite. We make merch about what’s happening now.

We back the live stuff up with the permanent stuff: the places, the plants, the animals, the scenes that have been humming here the whole time. The bee is on the label because a bee is the only creature that means all three kinds of buzz at once — the noise, the nature, and the lift.

We’re a new brand. We wear a vintage screenprint look because sun-faded ink is how California has always talked to itself — park posters, surf shop tees, produce crate labels, county fair signage. We’re not pretending to be old. We’re using the state’s own native graphic accent.

Present tense

We sell what’s happening, not what happened. “The poppies are going off,” not “California poppies.”

Specific beats generic

Never “California.” Always the Antelope Valley, the 5 through the Grapevine, the 10th Street exit. The detail is what makes it real.

Made well, printed well

Limited palettes, real registration, designs that survive a wash and a decade. Everyone’s welcome at the market, no gatekeeping.

See what’s buzzing.
